One of everyone”s favorite leftover turkey treats is turkey sandwiches. Leftover turkey in succulent slices stacked on bread can be eaten for lunches or dinners. Many people enjoy putting other Thanksgiving delicacies in their leftover turkey sandwiches; for instance, spooning some gravy over the leftover turkey slices, or adding a layer of cranberry sauce are both popular.
Leftover turkey also has other uses besides making an excellent sandwich meat. Slices may be enjoyed alone, or with gravy and other leftovers like cranberry sauce, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and more. Taste your Thanksgiving meal all over again with a rerun made possible by leftovers. And no reenactment of Thanksgiving would be complete without leftover turkey!
Soup is another way to use up that leftover turkey, especially parts of the turkey that are less edible – like the turkey bones with their small pieces of tasty meat still clinging to them. A great way to make turkey stock – the base of turkey soup, or any other soup that goes nicely with a poultry broth – is to first sautee some onions and garlic in some olive oil until the onions are translucent. You can do this right in the pot that you will make the soup in. Then add the water and bring it to a boil, finally adding the turkey bones and any bits of meat you want to include. The longer you boil the bones, the more flavor will be infused into the stock. Add vegetables and noodles or rice, or whatever you want to your soup and there you have It – a fall treat made possible by leftover turkey.
